Shawna Croswell has served in multiple Early Education roles at New Life Academy over the past three years, beginning as a preschool prep teacher, then a teacher’s aide, and now a preschool teacher, making a meaningful impact at every stage.
In addition to her full-time role as preschool teacher, Ms. Crowell is also furthering her own education to earn another bachelor’s degree from Colorado Christian University. She is involved in her local church and even helps choreograph some of the school plays.
As a first-year preschool teacher, Ms. Croswell has embraced the increased responsibilities and challenges. “I think of building relationships with each of the kids, ” she reflects. “I’ve been able to work with a lot of these kids in Eaglet Club, the after-school program, last year. So, I knew a lot of them going into it and can build that relationship even more.”

Faith is an important part of Ms. Croswell’s life. She shares, “I’m involved in my church. I go to Shepherd of the Valley. I ‘m a youth group leader, and I ‘m involved in a Bible study that my sister and I host at our house.”
Ms. Croswell has impacted her students in many ways, both academically and personally. Her positive influence reaches beyond the classroom to her fellow staff as well. One of those whose life she has impacted is Early Education Principal Christine DeBoer. Mrs. DeBoer explains, “She has a deep love for the Lord, which is reflected in the way she teaches and interacts with those around her. Shawna takes the time to get to know each child individually. She prays faithfully for her coworkers and support staff and offers encouragement and kindness. She has a joyful spirit that brings positivity to the team.”
