Faith and Service

Christian faith and community shape who we are and are interwoven into all areas of academic life. At New Life Academy, the Bible is integrated into our curriculum so that students grow into faith-filled and future-ready leaders. Students deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ when given concrete ways to put their faith into action. We aim to engage each student’s mind and heart in an active life of Christian service to others. We do that through Bible classes, leadership and service opportunities, mission trips, and weekly Chapel services.

At NLA, our students walk through an intentional spiritual journey to make their faith their own, put their identity in Christ, and grow in community together. This faith journey encourages them to serve others and demonstrates how to become more like Christ.

Inside the Classroom

A kindergarten teacher at New Life Academy sits at a round table engaging with young students who are working on activities. The classroom is vibrant and colorful, with student artwork, educational materials, and an American flag displayed. The children are focused on their tasks, creating a lively and interactive learning environment.
  • The truths of Scripture integrated into all subjects allow students the ability to respond to social issues from a Christian perspective.
  • “Christian Character” awards acknowledge Lower School students’ acts of kindness and encourage Christ-like behavior.
  • Upper School students are paired with younger Early Ed and Lower School students as “buddies” to serve as mentors and role models.
  • Weekly Middle School community groups meet with faculty and staff to form deeper connections and are encouraged in their walk with Jesus.
  • Students have dedicated class time to study Scripture, pray, and memorize Bible verses.
  • All teachers are certified through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), which maintains professional standards of Christian education.
  • Senior Capstone class firmly establishes students in the gospel and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and application of God’s Word in their own faith journeys.

Outside the Classroom

  • New Life Campus Pastor, Grant Lilly, serves as a spiritual support and resource to faculty, students, and parents.
  • Middle School Project Serve Day focuses on meeting the needs of our community through multiple service opportunities, such as Feed My Starving Children and Toys for Tots.
  • Partnership with New Life Church creates serving opportunities for our students and families to get involved. Past opportunities have included VBS and food packing events.
  • Student-led service projects identify community needs and give students opportunities to build awareness, raise money, and volunteer.
  • Middle and Upper School students participate in retreats and trips focused on faith development and service.
  • Consistent partnerships with local and global organizations emphasize New Life’s core values and provide tangible ways to see God at work.

Chapel at NLA

Lower School chapel meets each Wednesday morning at 8:20 am. The typical chapel experience begins with a time of worship and concludes with a special message given by an engaging speaker. The goal of our Lower School chapel is to provide a weekly service where young people can lift their voices in praise and learn more about Jesus. Parents, you are welcome to join us in chapel!

Upper School chapel on Thursday morning from 9:40–10:30 is a highlight of the week.  6th-12th grade students gather in the Worship Center to watch the New Life News, sing worship songs led by the Upper School Academy Worship band, and hear an encouraging message from NLA staff/faculty or a guest speaker.  It is an awesome way to celebrate the NLA community and is just one of the ways we continually point students to Jesus. Join us!

Academy Worship is one of our classes that was created and driven by student interest. Members of the class practice each week to lead our Middle and Upper School students in worship at the start of chapel. Our annual Faculty Grants have helped support the funding for Academy Worship to write and produce new worship music. Follow the Fire is the first song that Academy Worship released in 2021.
