A Strong Foundation for Their Learning Journey

A child’s attitude toward school and learning is often formed in Kindergarten. During this year, students build academic, social, and spiritual foundations while developing an authentic love for learning. At the same time, meaningful exploration, creativity, and play remain an important part of the Kindergarten experience.

Kindergarten at a Glance

The Kindergarten program at NLA is for children who turn five by September 1. Students learn in a caring, safe environment where play encourages growth and character development. With guidance from Christian teachers and staff, students begin to see how God’s truth shapes everyday life and nurtures their faith.

Embracing Unique Learning Styles to Maximize Potential

No two children learn the same way or at the same pace. Our learning environment is designed to meet each child where they are at, academically, socially, and emotionally. Some of our Kindergartners have attended Preschool, while others are walking into their first school experience. Either way, we help them thrive through:

Small Class Sizes

A 10:1 student-teacher ratio means there is always someone to provide individual attention. Our intentional, caring teachers ensure that students feel understood and valued.

Active Learning

Kindergartners learn best through play. We embrace experiential and project-based learning, where students can use their hands, get messy, and have fun.

A Smart Start

We conduct a family interview and academic/developmental assessments to help us get to know each student better before the first day of school.

Nurturing Character

Our Kindergarten teachers help nurture and grow kindness and empathy, which builds trust and allows children to see character values being lived out daily.

I love New Life Academy because teachers and staff are like extended family. They are loving and caring, and help us raise our children to follow God’s Word.

Enriched Learning

Our Kindergarten program is play-based, which means students learn through activities that feel like fun and games. This promotes academic growth and fosters a more enriching social experience as students work together as teammates and problem-solvers.

At the Kindergarten level, core subject areas include:

  • Bible
  • Math
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Science
  • History

Beyond their classroom, Kindergartners attend five specials throughout the week as part of a well-rounded curriculum:

  • Spanish
  • Art
  • Makerspace
  • PE
  • Music
Technology in the Classroom

Today’s students are digital natives, but we emphasize collaborative, face-to-face learning over screen time in Kindergarten. Our classrooms are filled with hands-on learning centers, and technology is used intentionally and only when truly beneficial. For example, Kindergarteners may work with tablets in a reading rotation, or complete a coding lesson in our Makerspace.

A Safe Environment

Parents deserve to feel peace of mind when they drop their Kindergartners off at school. We take safety seriously by securing our campus with locked doors, conducting background checks on all staff, ensuring all visitors are properly checked in at the front desk, and maintaining a safe, secure pickup process at the end of the day. Our classrooms and outdoor learning spaces are age-appropriate, ensuring the physical safety of all students.

Becky Ressie

“I love teaching Kindergarten because it is truly an adventure! It brings joy to me to watch kindergarteners explore, wonder, ask questions about God, and see light bulbs go off as they make connections. It is such a blessing to be with my class all day where we can grow in Christ together and form a close-knit community. The best part is that I get to teach them that they are loved by God and He uniquely created each one of them.”
