New Life Academy is pleased to announce the hiring of Dan DeWitt as the new Athletic Director. Dan comes to New Life from North Central University in Minneapolis where he served for three years as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. He will begin serving as the AD in early July.
DeWitt was selected from a high number of quality internal and external candidates. Dan’s ability to excel in the competitive world of athletics as both an athlete and a coach while keeping Jesus as the primary focus stood out to the interviewing team. His perspective on athletics and faith has been shaped by not only his own experiences in Christian schools but also his opportunities to work with several legendary coaches, including Don Meyer and Tubby Smith.
Dan was impressive in his interview. His love of Jesus was so evident, and equally clear to see was his desire to help athletes, coaches, and families grow in all areas of life. I am eager to see him continue to expand and improve New Life athletics as he steps into this role.
Principal Jed Moseman
Prior to his time at North Central, DeWitt was an assistant basketball coach at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato and the head basketball coach at Mayville State in North Dakota. He has had accompanying administrative positions in those roles as the Sports Information Director amongst others. Those that have worked with Dan in those settings praise his organization, his steadiness in the face of all circumstances, and his ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
DeWitt and his wife Laura already reside in Woodbury with their daughters Brynlee (6) and Esther (4) and their dog Reuben. Having the chance to make a greater impact in this community was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
My family and I are so excited to be joining New Life Academy. For us, this is much more than a job, it is a mission and a calling. As Athletic Director at NLA, I can’t wait to combine two of my greatest passions, Jesus and sports. There are so many great people in place already, and I look forward to joining the team so we can continue to grow in our understanding of what it means to strive for excellence in athletics and competition with Christ at the center.
Dan DeWitt
Please be in prayer for Dan and his family during this time of transition and make him feel welcome once he begins his role in July. He looks forward to meeting members of the community in the near future.
