At New Life Academy, the safety and well-being of our entire community is a priority. We are committed to creating a safe, secure, and caring place for everyone who learns, works, worships, and gathers on our campus. Through thoughtful planning, ongoing preparation, and strong partnerships, we take a proactive approach to creating a safe and welcoming environment.
Our Approach to Safety & Security
New Life Academy has taken intentional steps to strengthen safety and security on our campus. We also know that everyone has a role in protecting our community. By following established procedures, staying aware of our surroundings, and reporting concerns or incidents when they arise, we can all contribute to a culture of safety.
Campus Security & Access
Controlled Building Access
Exterior doors remain locked during school hours, with electronic card access used to control entry to the building. Additional interior doors with electronic card access help secure specific areas. We continue to evaluate and enhance controlled access, including plans to add or modify doors in additional areas of the building.
Visitor Access
Visitors enter through the main entrance and check in at the front desk before accessing the building. As part of our visitor screening process, photo identification is required to verify each visitor’s identity before access is granted.
Physical Security
Security film has been added to the windows of all main entrances, along with physical deterrents at key entrances to provide additional layers of protection.
Staff Screening
All staff undergo thorough background checks before joining the New Life Academy team.
Security Technology & Monitoring
Campus Monitoring
Security cameras are positioned throughout campus to provide broad coverage of our building and grounds. Additional cameras have been installed to expand coverage and strengthen our ability to monitor activity across campus.
Threat Detection Technology
Technology improvements to our security camera system provide additional capabilities designed to assist in detecting potential physical threats and support a proactive approach to campus security.
Emergency Preparedness
Partnership with Local Law Enforcement
New Life Academy works in ongoing consultation with the Woodbury Police Department to help inform our safety planning, procedures, and continued evaluation of campus security.
Safety Drills
Regular safety drills, including weather-related and lockdown drills, are conducted in coordination with the Woodbury Police Department. These drills give students and staff opportunities to practice established procedures and prepare for a variety of emergency situations.
Staff Training & Preparation
Staff regularly review safety protocols and emergency procedures so they are prepared to respond appropriately in a variety of situations. Safety procedures are reinforced through ongoing training and preparation throughout the school year.
Safety Planning
New Life Academy follows a five-year safety plan designed to guide ongoing safety and security efforts across our campus. A dedicated safety team reviews current needs, procedures, and opportunities for continued improvement.
CHIRP-360 Incident Reporting
What is CHIRP-360?
CHIRP-360 is a 24/7 incident reporting service provided by 360 Security Services, a team of experienced investigators, analysts, and security professionals. It gives the New Life community a way to report incidents, suspicious activity, or other safety concerns so they can be reviewed and appropriately addressed.
Who can submit a report?
Anyone with a safety or security concern related to New Life may submit a report through CHIRP-360. Reports may also be submitted anonymously.
When should I use CHIRP-360?
CHIRP-360 should be used to report concerning or suspicious activity that could affect the safety of our community. Examples may include threats or concerning behavior, suspicious individuals or vehicles on campus, unattended or suspicious items, signs of tampering with doors or other security features, or witnessed violence.
What if it is an emergency?
CHIRP-360 does not replace emergency services. If there is an immediate threat or emergency, call 911 first.
What happens after I submit a report?
Reports submitted through CHIRP-360 are reviewed and analyzed by subject-matter experts who can investigate the information and recommend strategies to address potential risks.
