Abby Palmquist nominated for 2022 Educator of the Year

Abby Palmquist is in what she refers to as her “Golden Year” of teaching – her fourth year teaching fourth grade. Recently, she was nominated for the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, Educator of the Year, an honor that is well-deserved.

Students and families who have met Ms. Palmquist know the impact she has on her class and the love and encouragement she pours out on each student. Ms. Palmquist explained that she is “passionate about making sure every student feels loved and known by her and most importantly, by their heavenly Father.”

These commitments have been recognized by students, staff, and families alike. The staff member who nominated Ms. Palmquist shared:

Abby is an amazing 4th grade teacher – her passion for teaching is evident and kids really enjoy learning in her classroom. She is fun, yet has high expectations and really helps motivate the kids to do their best work every day. You can see in student test results, her teaching style is successful for this age group. What a joy and asset she is to New Life Academy!

In the four years Ms. Palmquist has taught at New Life, she explained that the best part is the community and how people come together to support one another. This is something that she seeks to cultivate in her own classroom. She does this through giving students a valid voice and always welcoming prayer requests and honest conversation. “This creates community among all the students, and we can be aware of what is happening in each other’s lives outside of the classroom,” she shared.

New Life Academy is blessed to have such an incredible teacher with a heart for the Lord and for her students!
