The Enrichment Resource Teacher is responsible for all the normal duties associated with being responsible for teaching an elementary class. The teacher is the driving force behind the academic success of the GATE students and how parents view the effectiveness of the academy. This person will provide gifted second through sixth grade students with advanced learning and enrichment experiences in specifically designated areas of curriculum utilizing their specific intellectual gifts to their potential. This position is for 24 hours per week. The schedule will be determined after selection.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Enrichment Resource Teacher reports directly to the Lower School Principal.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning Instructional Work
- Develops and implements a comprehensive enrichment program for K-6 students
- Assists school personnel in the identification of gifted students
- Assists teachers in the presentation of enrichment materials and lessons
- Develops, obtains, and distributes appropriate enrichment materials
- Assists classroom teachers in the evaluation of student achievement in enrichment/gifted classes
- Works with Director of Teaching/Learning to provide professional development to teachers, administrators, support staff, and community regarding educational needs and characteristics of gifted children
- Coordinates acceleration options for gifted students
- Applying biblical integration principles to all classes
- Weekly lesson planning and preparation.
- Curriculum evaluation including course objectives
- Ordering of curriculum materials and supplies
Communication with parents, students and administration
- Maintaining grades in the school management system on a timely basis
- Proactive communication with classroom teachers and parents on a regular basis
- Assist with fall grade level parent meetings as needed
Classroom Management
- Maintain a clean and appealing classroom
- Be aware of and enforce handbook policies (Teacher and Student Handbooks)
- Maintaining bulletin boards and classroom displays
- Working with pull out and push in groupings to be determined year to year
Other Duties
- Attending scheduled faculty meetings
- Assist with special school programs as assigned, and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Academic
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Five year’s teaching experience preferred
- Coursework in Gifted Education preferred
- Licensed in K-6 Elementary Education
- Licensed in Gifted Education (or willingness to become licensed) preferred
Ability to lead a small department/team
- Experience related to 21st century learning concepts, differentiation, and integration of technology into the classroom
- Knowledge of Christian K-12 education distinctives

- Is able to effectively integrate the gospel-centered message into day-to-day responsibilities effectively. Has a strong reputation exemplified by passion and consistency that students want to emulate and parents respect. Proactively seeks ways to improve how the school presents itself from a Christian perspective.
