Director of Finance

The Director of Finance reports directly to the Ministry Leader and will supervise a team responsible for the finance, accounting, IT, legal/contract management, and operations of the building.  S/he will manage a nine plus million-dollar budget for New Life.

The Director of Finance will be a business partner to the leadership teams, and provide metrics, analytics, and actionable ideas to inform decision making.

The Director of Finance attends ministry leadership meetings as necessary to provide comprehensive and accurate financial management information to assist the boards in meeting its fiduciary responsibilities.

The Director of Finance participates in meetings of subcommittees of the governing bodies including the finance and development committees.  S/he is a member of the administrative cabinet team and is New Life’s point person for professional relationships with banks, auditors, insurance professionals, contractors and vendors.

Who We Are

New Life Church was formed in 1977.  New Life Church (NLC) exists to help people find New Life in Christ here, near, and far.  There is a strong tradition of 45 years of ministry doing that exact thing.

New Life Church though is much more than Sunday.  Shortly after NLC was formed, New Life Academy (NLA) was started and today has become a Christian school enrolling more than 750 students in grades preschool through twelve creating an environment where students are known, loved and valued so they can be faith-filled and future-ready.

All of New Life’s ministries are focused on reaching people all week long through an educational focus at the Church, Academy, a homeschool co-op and many other mid-week programs designed to teach the Word of God to adults and youth.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role is responsible for all financial activities including, but not limited to:

  • Financial reporting and analysis
  • Budgeting and expense management
  • Strategic planning and long-range forecasts
  • Continuous operational improvement
  • Contract management and property
  • Casualty and liability insurance negotiations
  • Salary and benefit plan management
  • Gifts and pledges
  • Capital campaigns
  • Construction projects and capital expenses

The Director of Finance is also responsible for overseeing technology and optimizing NLA’s recently implemented software system, including customer interfaces, database management, accounting, financial and operational reporting.

Desired Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with strong business acumen and strategic leadership
  • MBA highly regarded

Desired Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience, and a minimum 1-3 years demonstrated leadership success.
  • Experience in non-profit accounting preferred.
  • An interest and appreciation for a mission-driven Christian organization is necessary for success in this position.
