DESCRIPTION

Memorable summertime fun awaits you child as he or she makes new friends and explores a new theme each week. Children will enjoy age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts, gym time and fun in the sun! Children age 4 through those entering Kindergarten will go on field trips and receive T-shirts. Please provide a bag lunch for your child each day. Snacks will be provided. Deadline for registration for BLAST programs is first come, first serve.

Description:  This 8 week, 16 session program will improve sport performance by increasing the athlete’s speed, agility, and strength while also reducing the risk of future injury. The program will be led by Select Therapy’s team of Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers.  Participants will receive a t-shirt.  The rate includes all 16 sessions.  No refund is given for missed sessions.

Description:  This two week strength and conditioning program is offered June 4-8 (week 1) and June 11-15 (week 2), Monday-Thursdays with Fridays as a shorter day – optional for make-up day or on your own training (the weight room will be supervised). Description:  The New Life Eagles soccer camp is for both boys and girls. The camp runs for 5 days, 3 hours each day. The objectives are to develop soccer skills, while having fun. The New Life Academy Boys and Girls Soccer coach and players will staff the camp. The skills include juggling, dribbling, shooting, controlling, and passing. The activities for each day will include individual drills, lead-up games and small-sided games.  Each participant will receive a camp shirt.  Participants should bring a ball, tennis shoes or soccer cleats, shin guards, water bottle and a snack.

Description:  Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of form, chipping, putting, driving and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs-all equipment is provided. We keep the instructor-to-camper ratio for this program very low, resulting in limited availability. Description:  Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company providing fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students. The chess lessons are based around the original, fun, and high-energy Chess Wizards curriculum. Description:  We are very excited to announce that two of our most popular vendors have combined efforts this summer to create a fun, full day camp experience.

Students will build a variety of theme-based, fun-filled motorized models utilizing LEGO® Bricks and Technic® elements with themes such as space exploration, cranium contraptions, amazing animals, interesting inventions, construction, transportation, energy is everywhere, exploring the everglades, natural science and factory fun. All activities are designed to enhance a child’s self-esteem while triggering their imagination and building their self-confidence.

Description:  All New Game Tutorial!  Image, create, and share by creating an interactive 2D video game using your FAVORITE characters.  We scoured the Scratch website and assembled a collection of the most popular game sprites.  Choose characters from Undertale, Pokémon, Nintendo, Minecraft and even classic characters like Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Sonic, and Mario!  The first classes we will learn to use scratch, and on the final session, students will be walked through creating a working arcade-style game, picking which main character to use.  Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day, or they can be emailed to parents.

Description:  In this camp, students will be creating custom Armor.  Learn to mod Minecraft using Java and the Forge API and customize your gaming experience.  Students will be introduced to coding concepts and learn how to use Eclipse, a professional tool to edit and debug code.  Students should be comfortable with keyboards and of course playing Minecraft!  At the end of the class, take home your Mods to share with family and friends.  Bring a USB drive, drink, and snack each day.

Description:  Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design and coding. Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time!

Description:  Students will create a platforming video game where they’ll build levels, introduce players and enemies to the environment, and even control power ups and physics.  At the end of the week, students will get to take home a USB drive all of the games created by the class.

Description:  Discover the world of robotics inspired by science fiction writers like Isaac Asimov and Karl Capek.  Build an OWI EM4 Robot and a Rookie Solar Racer v2 to take home.  Learn about robot programming with Mad Science’s Baby Steps and Sandwich programming.  Program a Lego Mindstorms® Robot to navigate through an obstacle course.

Description:  Build the OWI All Terrain 3-in-1 Robot to take home.  Explore the mechanical and electrical engineering that makes robots possible.  Build circuits, experiment with gears and explore sensors that robots use to see and hear to guide their actions.  Learn the fundamentals of programming robots with Mad Science’s Sandwich programming.  Lego Mindstorms® Robots are available for building and programming.

Description:  Have you ever wanted to be a chemist, geologist, biologist, illusionist, or paleontologist?  These are just some of the Mad Science scientists you will become while learning about bugs, sea life, fossils, minerals, optical illusions, magic and what makes slime slimy and putty sticky.  Enjoy hands-on fun and experiments as you explore a different theme each day.

Description:  Use forensic science to help solve Mad Science mysteries.  Learn about collecting evidence, blood typing, pH, and fingerprints as you help solve a crime.  Extract the DNA from wheat germ and make a model cell.  Create a mystery scene for fellow campers to analyze and solve.

Lunch Bunch –

NEW!  A supervised lunch time will be offered from 12:00-1:00 for any back-to-back camps that your child is signed up for during any given week during summer programming.  Please send a lunch and drink with your camper each day, and a summer staff member will monitor your student while he or she enjoys a break in between camp sessions and hangs out with other Lunch Bunch campers.

Cost:  $5 per day, to be billed separately by the business office
