Summer Programs

We have a blast engaging students during the summer

Our Summer Program offers daily Summer Blast programming, weekly camps that range from athletic, art, STEAM activities and Academic Courses for Credit. Flexible BLAST schedules allow you to register for a few days or the entire summer based on your own travel schedule. You no longer have to hear “I’m bored” this summer! There is something for everyone!

DESCRIPTION

Memorable summertime fun awaits you child as he or she makes new friends and explores a new theme each week. Children will enjoy age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts, gym time and fun in the sun! Children age 4 through those entering Kindergarten will go on field trips and receive T-shirts. Please provide a bag lunch for your child each day. Snacks will be provided. Deadline for registration for BLAST programs is first come, first serve.

Camp Title:  NLA Soccer Camp

Description:  The New Life Eagles soccer camp is for both boys and girls. The camp runs for 5 days, 3 hours each day. The objectives are to develop soccer skills, while having fun. The New Life Academy Boys and Girls Soccer coach and players will staff the camp. The skills include juggling, dribbling, shooting, controlling, and passing. The activities for each day will include individual drills, lead-up games and small-sided games.  Each participant will receive a camp shirt.  Participants should bring a ball, tennis shoes or soccer cleats, shin guards, water bottle and a snack.

Description:  Student athletes will be tested and challenged, as well as spiritually encouraged by the daily activities of the camp.  Each camper will be given opportunity for competitive play, individual instruction and attention throughout the week.  Daily “chalk talks” by coaches and staff will inspire campers about the characteristics of Christian athletes. Participants should bring a ball, cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle.

Description:  During this fast paced camp, participants will learn about stick handling, passing and shooting as well as team drills.  Offense and defensive fundamentals will be taught, along with scrimmage related activities each day. Description:  Flag Football is the perfect introduction to “America’s Game.” Campers learn skills on both sides of the football including the core components of passing, catching, and defense – all presented in a fun and positive environment.  The week ends with the Skyhawks Super Bowl, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills on the gridiron! Description:  All aspects of volleyball are taught through drills and exercises that focus on bumping, setting, hitting, and serving. This co-ed program is designed for the beginning and intermediate player. Description:  This camp will focus on the fundamentals of form, chipping, putting, driving and body positioning.  To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy and effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs–all equipment is provided. We keep the instructor-to-camper ratio for this program very low, resulting in limited availability.  Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes, and sunscreen.

Description:  We are very excited to announce that two of our most popular vendors have combined efforts this summer to create a fun, full day camp experience.  Students will build a variety of theme-based, fun-filled motorized models utilizing LEGO® Bricks and Technic® elements with themes such as space exploration, cranium contraptions, amazing animals, interesting inventions, construction, transportation, energy is everywhere, exploring the everglades, natural science and factory fun. All activities are designed to enhance a child’s self-esteem while triggering their imagination and building their self-confidence.  After a supervised lunch, in the afternoon, you will get active with Skyhawks. This multi-sport camp offers a wide variety of sports and activities to explore in a fun and interactive setting. We will focus on building skills in soccer and flag football; but will also include camp games like Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee and Kickball.

Description: It it’s drawing, painting, and cartooning you’re after, then this is the camp for you!  Join us for a day full of drawing fun! In this introductory drawing camp, basic techniques and principles of drawing will be taught.  You will master a simple step-by-step drawing method as you create drawings that glow-in-the-dark, artwork that pops out at you, a painting on a real canvas board, and so much more. Description:  In this four- day camp we will dance our way through Ephesians 6:10-18 with daily stories, bible verses, prayer, crafts, and snacks.  We will learn WHAT the armor of God is and HOW we put it on and WHY we need it. Description:  Who said you couldn’t solve the world’s problems with LEGO bricks?  Learn a little about the process real inventors go through to create new inventions while you help design, build, and program robotic machines to solve problems.

Description:  In Snapology’s Building a Better World camp, children are challenged to think critically about the world around them.  As students identify problems, they will think creatively about how they can use technology to inspire change.  Alternative energy, green architecture, robotics, and technology all get rolled up into this camp as we talk about Building a Better World.

Description:   Kids will take an adventurous journey to learn programming and coding using the world famous Scratch visual programming language, a project developed by the MIT Media Lab as part of our Engineering camp.  Kids will also be learning STEM-based engineering principles by building a variety of fun-filled motorized models using LEGO Bricks and Technic elements with themes such as space exploration, cranium contraptions, and interesting inventions.  The camp will include team building, group games, and recess activities to provide the time for shared fun and a chance to get to know fellow campers.

 

Camp Title: Introduction to Filmmaking

Description:  Want to learn how to film a movie? Everyone will create a movie that they will be taking home with them at the end of the camp.  Students need to bring a USB drive so all of their videos can be saved with them at the end of the camp.  Students will learn how to design storyboards, add green screens and sound effects, learn video angle techniques, and create special effects.

 

Camp Title: 2D Video Game Creation

Description:  Do you like playing video games?  Learn to create a 2D video game with no coding experience needed. Design your own game, create your own characters, and learn the basics and structure of programming video games. Each child will learn how to convert your ideal game into a reality and design their own characters.  Bring a USB drive on the final day to take home your video game!

Description:  Children will begin to explore the world of robotics as they build simple models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design.  Whether learning about sensors while building drills and magic wands, or discovering ways that gears and pulleys create movement while building helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time.

Description:  Each day of this camp, students and their team will discover clues, solve puzzles, answer riddles, and manipulate contraptions in order to complete the assigned tasks and ultimately unlock the box to escape Snapology! Using math, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, students will be required to work together to succeed in escaping Snapology.  Students will also be given the opportunity to create their own Escape Rooms and try to complete the challenges developed by their peers.

 

Camp Title:  3D Printing and Laser Engraving

Description:  Learn the basics of how to design 3D objects and print and/or engrave your creations into art pieces.  Learn how to think, create and make 3D objects.  They will be introduced to the leading software of 3D creation and engineering software that can be used to print 3D objects or laser engrave into materials.  A selection of projects will be created during the camp that students will be able to print on the 3D printer and engrave with the laser engraver.  Students will be able to share their design creations with others and take them home.

 

Camp Title:  Makey Makey Inventorship

Description:  Inventors!  Be creative, inventive and imaginative by becoming a Makey Makey Maker.  Learn how to turn everyday objects into touchpads to use on a computer.  Convert an idea into a reality.  Using a Makey Makey tool, use nearly any object to convert it into an interactive project.  Connect the physical world with the digital world.  Students will journal your ideas like an inventor, make a banana digital piano, make a playdoh game controller, and make a stopwatch using cardboard.
