Summer Programs

We have a blast engaging students during the summer

Our Summer Program offers daily Summer Blast programming, weekly camps that range from athletic, art, STEAM activities and Academic Courses for Credit. Flexible BLAST schedules allow you to register for a few days or the entire summer based on your own travel schedule. You no longer have to hear “I’m bored” this summer! There is something for everyone!

DESCRIPTION

Memorable summertime fun awaits you child as he or she makes new friends and explores a new theme each week. Children will enjoy age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts, gym time and fun in the sun! Children age 4 through those entering Kindergarten will go on field trips and receive T-shirts. Please provide a bag lunch for your child each day. Snacks will be provided. Deadline for registration for BLAST programs is first come, first serve.

DESCRIPTION

Summer is a time for students to have FUN in a safe and exciting environment. Join the NLA summer BLAST program for the time of your life. The day may consists of gym time, games, outdoor recess, crafts, field trips and more.

NLA Sports Sampler/Sports Camp: Game On

Come join us this summer for a week of your favorite gym games, both indoor and outdoor. We’ll play a variety of team games, spend time working on skill development, & enjoy lots of dodge ball and kickball! Besides having a really fun time with friends, each student will receive daily rewards and a framed photo of them in action! There will be other “grand” prizes for game and tournament winners!

NLA Boys Basketball Camp: 1st – 3rd Grade

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball in a fun atmosphere to encourage kids to enjoy the game of basketball. Kids will learn proper skills and have fun playing a variety of activities and games. There will be daily rewards given to each kid as well. Kids will need to wear comfortable clothing for activity and tennis shoes each day to camp. Kids can bring a water bottle to use during the camp as well.

NLA Boys Basketball Camp: 4th – 6th Grade

This camp will focus on skill development along with competitive game skills to help players become better basketball players. Skill development will include ball handling skills, finishing, shooting, offensive team skills like cutting, screening and passing, and 1 on 1 skills to help a player score and create offense. Each day the camp will have fun games for the athletes to compete in and utilize their basketball skills.

NLA Middle School Football Camp

Middle School Head Coach Stephen Nelson and other Eagles players/staff will teach football skills for both offense, defense, and special teams. They will be incorporating techniques, plays, and fundamentals taught at the varsity level but applicable for younger ages. Combined with scrimmaging opportunities this non-contact camp will be a fun and a great learning experience.

NLA Varsity Football Camp I

Our first Football Camp is a fun and important camp for both individual training and team concepts. We begin installation of our pass and run concepts for offense and defense.  For lineman we’ll install our foundational concepts for offensive and defensive line play.

NLA Varsity Football Camp II

Our final camp for the summer, this is for any interested players entering 9-12.  This four day camp will focus on offense, defense, and special teams individual position development plus our varsity coaching staff will implement our defensive and offensive team concepts.  Final testing for speed and strength will also be conducted.

Skyhawks Mini-Hawk (Soccer, T-ball, Basketball)

This t-ball, basketball, and soccer program gives children a fun and positive rst step into athletics. Through games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. For all half day camps, participants receive a t-shirt, ball, and a merit award. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes and sunscreen.

Skyhawks Volleyball

All aspects of volleyball are taught through drills and exercises that focus on passing, setting, hitting, and serving. This co-ed program is designed for the beginning and intermediate player. Our staff will assist campers in developing fundamental skills through game-speed drills and daily scrimmages aimed at developing the whole player. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, water bottle, and sunscreen. All participants receive a t-shirt, volleyball, and merit award.

Skyhawks Flag Football

Flag Football is the perfect introduction to “America’s Game.” Campers learn skills on both sides of the football including the core components of passing, catching, and defense – all presented in a fun and positive environment. The week ends with the Skyhawks Super Bowl, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills on the gridiron! Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, water bottle, and sunscreen. Participants receive a t-shirt, football, and merit award.

Skyhawks Golf

Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the con dence of young athletes through proper technique and re ning the essential skills of the game. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of form, chipping, putting, driving and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is speci cally designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simpli es instruction so that young players can make an easy and e ective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs- -all equipment is provided. We keep the instructor- to-camper ratio for this program very low, resulting in limited availability. Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes, and sunscreen. All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award.

Art Academy

Does your child love art? Painting, drawing, clay- it’s all awesome! We will experiment with many techniques, materials, and styles as we make snow globes, paint on canvas, create clay characters and more. The Messiest Art Camp Ever! – Part II

Back by popular demand with all new projects that takes mess-making to a whole new level! We’ll paint with plaster, sculpt with gooey gunk, make paper maché birds and ing paint like Jackson Pollock. We will even learn some art terms along the way. These are not projects to tackle at home – leave the mess with us. After all, being a kid is a messy business! All Dolled Up Art Camp

Back by popular demand! Your child and her American Girl® Doll (or another favorite doll) will love this camp! We’ll make all the accessories a doll needs, including pets, doll sized treats, jewelry, and even a mini birthday cake! By the end of this camp, your child’s special friend will be all “dolled” up. Glow-in-the-Dark Art – Part II

Back by popular demand with all new projects! These projects will ROCK your child’s world long after the lights go out at night. You guessed it, all the projects we will create at this class will glow-in-the-dark! How cool is that?!?!?! We will be working with a variety of different art supplies including clay, paint, and luminescent materials to create masterpieces your child will be ready to show off in the dark! God’s Top Ten Dance Camp – This camp is now full

It’s important to know right from wrong! We’ll learn that God gives us rules to live by because He loves us. This camp includes bible stories, key bible verses, prayer, crafts, snacks and lots of dancing each day. No dance experience needed. Wear comfortable clothing; no dance shoes needed. Dancers will share what they learn at an informal show during the last 15 minutes of the last day of camp. Snack will be provided.

Gymboree’s Music, Art and Bubble Camp

At the Gymboree Art, Music and Bubble camp, your child will participate in music and art activities designed to build listening skills, cooperative play, imagination, sensory/ body awareness, and coordination, as well as promote imagination and fun!

Music: At Gymboree, we take a very PLAYFUL and ACTIVE approach to musical learning through the exploration of over 20 di erent musical styles from Novelty Elvis, Jazz, Beatles, Latin, we have got it all! Enhance your child’s development and love of music through song, dance, movement games and instruments. Our camp program will help children explore the power of rhythm, melody, tonality and beat while nurturing key physical, social and intellectual skills.

Art: At Gymboree, we discover art hands-on through sculpting, painting, drawing, print making collage, story time, and much more. Our process oriented approach to art supports your child’s creativity and the best part is that your child will get an opportunity to paint, sculpt, collage and imagine in a uniquely creative space. Our classes will encourage confidence and support artistic potential in your preschooler and assist in ne motor development (painting with brushes, stamping, tactile activities).

School of Fine Arts (SOFA) teachers, Rosalee Allard, Deanna Holst, Cindy Martinson, and Tiffany Van Vooren will be teaching private lessons this summer. Students not currently in private lessons through SOFA are required to pay a $25 registration fee.

Game Coding: Platformer

New Class! Create an arcade-style side scrolling platformer! Students will learn to create a web-based platformer using Construct 2, a visual coding platform that teaches student the basics and structure of programming. Robotics: Star Wars Droid Builder

Bring Star Wars inspired inventions to life — with the Star Wars Lego Mindstorms Robotics Developer kit. We will start with a simple droid mechanism and then move on to more ambitious droids that move and walk. This modular building system lets student’s build using subassemblies, making it easy to create and customize the robotic droids. All these great robotic inventions are powered by the Micro Scout, the smallest LEGO microcomputer, equipped with light sensor, and 6 robotic programs to control our droid creations. Possible Models include Droid Vehicle, Trainer Droids, our version of R2D2 and more! We will experiment with robotic programs that avoid light, seek light, and are controlled by lights, act as alarms and more. Please bring a drink & snack daily.

Minecraft is a sandbox building game; that’s been dominating the world of video gaming for the past few years. Collaborate with fellow students to construct a city! Our summer academic program provides students the opportunity to earn high school credits in order to have more room in their schedule for other courses during the regular school year.

 

Physical Education
Course Description: Each student will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and abilities through a variety of team and individual sports (i.e. golf, tennis, softball, flag football, soccer, basketball). The units will include development of skills, teaching of rules, regulations, and strategies governing the specific sport. We will also emphasize an appreciation of the biblical principles of honesty and fair play, abiding by the rules, and the importance of developing teamwork. Time will also be taken to provide general awareness of personal health and hygiene as it applies to everyday living.

Red Cross Babysitter Course

Register

The purpose of this American Red Cross Babysitter course is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. There are no prerequisites required to take the course. Included in the price of the course is a training kit. The contents of the kit include:

  • Babysitter’s Training Handbook- This full color handbook is lled with great information and resources to use in class and on the job.
  • Babysitter’s Training Emergency Reference Guide- This easy-to-carry, compact booklet provides step-by-step instructions to handle common emergencies such as bee stings and asthma attacks.
  • Babysitter’s Training CD-ROM- This new tool provides participants with the tools they will need to run their babysitting business, including a babysitting organizer; a printable activity booklet with games, crafts, songs and recipes; a resume template and more

Each participant will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter Course Completion Certifcate if they attend all sessions and successfully complete the course activities. Please bring a bag lunch to both days of the class.
