ACT Prep Courses
Tuesday, February 27, is the testing day for students in Grades 6-11. Juniors will be taking the ACT test. Students are encouraged to sign up for the classes below to help prepare for the test. The classes are being offered on the below dates and are open to students in Grades 10-12. Sign up for as many as you would like. The price of each is listed below. Instructors are: Mrs. Sydney Hagen (English), Mrs. Gina Kortuem (English) and Mrs. Jeni Meyer (Math). Register through EagleNet.
The deadline to sign up for the English session on Monday, February 5 and the Math session on Thursday the 8th is Saturday, February 3rd.
The deadline for the rest of the ACT prep sessions will be Saturday, February 10th.
Monday, February 5, 3:15-4:45 pm
The students will review grammar, determine logical sequencing of words and phrases, and understand what choices would be best based on context.
Tuesday, February 13, 3:15-4:45 pm
The students will review tips on how to read the passage efficiently, the types of questions that will be asked (comprehension, analysis), and how to make inferences.
English (All topics), $60 Saturday, February 17, 9 am-12 pm *
Monday, February 26, 3:15-4:45 pm
The students will learn tips on pre-writing and how to craft a well-organized response in a timely manner.
Each math session will include review of various topics covered on the ACT test, a brief amount of time discussing general test-taking tips, and the opportunity to get help on sample ACT questions.
Thursday, February 8, 3:15-4:45 pm
Review key theorems about lines, angles and polygons; finding area and volume; Pythagorean Theorem; sine, cosine, and tangent; Law of Sines and Cosines; trigonometric identities, etc.
Thursday, February 15, 3:15-4:45 pm
Mean, median, mode; interpreting data tables, pie charts and other statistical graphs; probability of outcomes, etc.
Math (All topics), $60
Saturday, February 17, 1-4 pm *
The three-hour Saturday session will review all of the above topics and discuss general test- taking tips.
Thursday, February 22, 3:15-4:45 pm
Simplifying and evaluating algebraic expressions; solving equations and word problems, interpreting graphs of various functions, etc.
STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to complete a TIMED practice test prior to attending a review session. Mrs. Meyer is available to proctor a practice math test on Thursday, February 1, 3:15-4:45, free of charge to students.
